The PILOTS PROGRAM with the network cooperation of
Sound Community Services,
Southeastern Mental Health Authority and,
The Women's Center of Southeastern Connecticut, Inc. plan and develop affordable supportive housing units that are transitional, cluster, and permanent in nature as living sites for individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness; and have been diagnosed with mental illness and/or a chemical dependency, or multiple disabilities.
Preference will be given to individuals and families who are in the greatest need of housing to include:
· Youth
· Addicted mothers
· Individuals coming out of programs and/or jail
· Individuals who have multiple disabilities
· Women and children affected by domestic violence
· Individuals who require long-term services
Services provided include:
· Assistance to obtain and maintain housing
· Case management and life skills training
· Vocational and educational supports
· Clubhouse and recreational opportunities
· Clinical and medical linkage and support
Services are tailored to meet the needs of individuals and families and are offered for as long as they are needed to maintain recovery and achieve greater self-efficacy.
The goals of the Pilots Program are:
· To provide safe and affordable housing with supports to help residents maintain recovery from substance abuse and mental illness
· Foster healthy relationships
· Minimize abuse and neglect among family members
· Promote the appropriate use of community-base services
· Prepare tenants for less service-intensive housing options through the acquisition of skills needed for successful community living
· Gain permanent affordable housing
