Norwich WinterFest 5K - November 26th

Are you a runner, walker, or someone who values mental and physical wellness? Join us for the Norwich WinterFest 5K happening on Saturday, November 26th! We're gearing up for our 4th annual event featuring the Hartford Marathon Foundation, massage therapist, vendors, face painting, soup, and runners in costume. Not a runner or walker? That's OK! We love volunteers too!

As you may have noticed, Reliance House is getting a new name, Reliance Health. For years we have been poorly served by the concept of the term “house”. With the recent addition of our outpatient clinic, we recognize the need to connect the agency’s name with our mission statement, “enhancing health through mental wellness”. The name Reliance Health better represents what we are, a multifaceted community mental health center.

Sailing club teaches self-confidence, teamwork, fun

Norwich — Tina Slavic stood nervously on the shore of Norwich Harbor at the Howard T. Brown Memorial Park Wednesday, eyes peeled on the Thames River for the 32-foot sloop Interim to round the bend in the river and arrive in port. The boat would carry Slavic, 55, of Norwich on her first-ever ride on a sailboat, the Interim's return trip to New London. “I'm doing it to get rid of the fear,” Slavic said. “I've gotta do it. I gotta step up and get rid of this fear, and be able to get off the boat at the end and say 'I did it!'”  Read more...


State officials say Connecticut on target to end chronic homelessness this year

NORWICH — Department of Housing Commissioner Evonne Klein said Thursday that the state is on track to meet its goal of ending chronic homelessness in the Nutmeg State by year's end. Klein stopped at Reliance House in Norwich to tout the state's success in the national Zero: 2016 initiative, which Gov. Dannel P. Malloy signed on to in 2014.
